More Countries Requiring Tourists Purchase Travel Insurance

The rise in tourism has lead to an increase in travel injuries/hospitalization and increased medical costs. Many companies are starting to make travel insurance compulsory, a new requirement to even enter the country. Allianz Partners noted that 15 of the 26 Schengen nations currently require insurance. In addition, Cuba, Ecuador, Qatar, Russia, Turkey, the U.A.E and the U.S. are doing the same. Egypt will soon join and Thailand is considering adding compulsory insurance. This will be a huge trend for 2019, with factors and requirements that will vary from country to country but travelers will be required to demonstrate health or hospitalization coverage before being allowed to enter.
