United Airlines Donates $1 Million to Shutdown Response Fund

While the shutdown may have temporarily ended, there are still thousands of workers who suffered 30 plus days without a paycheck and because of that, they still need assistance. Due to the increased need for support to Feeding America, United announced on January 25 that they will donate $1 million to Feeding America’s Shutdown Response Fund. The fund has been providing food at food banks and distribution centers for furloughed workers (i.e. TSA and Homeland Security employees), at United hubs such as LaGuardia Airport and other United hubs. While the shutdown may be over for now, workers are still catching up. United will continue to distribute care packages twice a week throughout February.
