United is in the testing stages of a new plan that would allow gate agents to slightly delay a flight if travelers are rushing to board during a connection. Reports from the Chicago Daily Herald say United is to unveil the “Dynamic D-0 program” at Denver International Airport. This program will help agents at the gate determine if there are passengers running late from a previous flight and if they will be late for boarding. While this would delay the plane for a few minutes, United thinks it can make up the lost time in the air, especially on flights that typically arrive early. According to United, approximately 25% of flights land early which would let United test these newest delays. After this year United hopes to expand the program to all its flights.
