Southwest has just announced that flights to Hawaii will be available beginning March 17, due to FAA approval. The first inaugural flight from Oakland International Airport (OAK) is scheduled for May 5 and will fly to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport (HNL) in Honolulu, Oahu. The second flight will be OAK to Kahului on May 12. Starting April 28, Southwest will fly to Honolulu and Kahului four times daily with round-trip service. Extra ‘interisland’ stops in Hawaii will make connections between Kona, Oakland, and San Jose even easier. Southwest is planning to eventually add San Diego and Sacramento in California, and in Hawaii adding Lihue on Kauai. These Hawaii stops were added due to increasing demand from customers and customers can start to book flights beginning March 5. An added benefit of these Hawaii flights are 32 inch standard seats, island inspired drinks and inflight Wi-Fi.
