United recently finished the first phase of a $4 billion, 1.3 million sq. ft. refurbishment project that will revamp Terminal B, being led by LaGuardia Gateway Partners. The ceilings are an impressive 55 feet and offer plenty of natural light, while the travelers enjoy 13 new shops and restaurants inspired by New York, including Shake Shack and FAO Schwarz. The new terminal and concourse, are part of a larger $8 billion redevelopment project, to upgrade the entire airport. United opened the newest United Club on June 2, which will be located near the United security gates. The concourse will also feature charging stations among the plentiful seating and free high-speed Wi-Fi. Rick Cotton, Executive Director of the Port Authority of New York & New Jersey said, “This is another important step in our ongoing commitment to provide world-class facilities that turn Governor Cuomo’s vision for 21st century LaGuardia into reality. We are undertaking this comprehensive rebuilding of LaGuardia Airport while continuing full operation and serving record numbers of passengers.” United will operate out of five gates with 40 daily flights.
