As we inch further toward our September 47-year celebration in business, I am thinking how much I value these years in bringing Omega through many changes and opportunities. The experience has been filled with much learning; incredible challenges; amazing people and constant innovation; often forcing us to change course on a dime. Throughout it all, we have always tried to be true to our beliefs and high standards. The master plan is to keep growing through evolutions and revolutions.
The changes that we have brought to the Travel Industry are the ones that I am proudest of; yet, the changes that others have initiated and we embraced in our own unique way, have also had a positive impact on our company.
Most recently, I have just returned from a memorable cruise on Cunard’s Queen Mary 2 to Nova Scotia. As you may recall, my honeymoon on the Queen Elizabeth 2 in 1970 is what inspired me to start Omega World Travel; and, paved the way for our growth.
I departed after a week-long conference at The Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC) National Conference and Business Fair. WBENC is extremely important to Omega as it puts us in front of Fortune 100 and 500 companies, and other woman business owners who want to do business with us, and vice versa! WBENC is the largest certifier of women-owned businesses in the U.S. and a leading advocate for women business owners and entrepreneurs. The WBENC certification standard is the most relied upon certification of women-owned businesses; and, the standard used by many of the Fortune 1,000 Companies in subcontracting women.
We have been certified since the beginning, in 1998. It was great to connect with Susan Bari, and Marsha Firestone. Marsha is the President and Founder of the Women’s Presidents Educational Organization in New York and Washington D.C. They are the local Regional Partner Organization for WBENC and handle our certification. The network is full of interesting woman business owners, and corporate sponsors, it was a joy to learn about them and hear their final pitches at the conference. Furthermore, I was honored to be nominated for the MBE Magazine’s WBE’s Who Rock award and was one of ten business leaders to win! Stay tuned for our press release about the momentous event.
We are busy following up from that conference, and we are looking ahead to a very busy summer season. Not only did the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) state this was one of the busiest travel summers in recent history, but it is busy for us with a few trade shows coming up. We are looking forward to exhibiting at GBTA (Global Business Travel Association), booth 2410, and the American Society for Travel Advisors (ASTA). Will we see you there? Let me know so my staff can meet you.
I am so impressed with the way my staff is working hard through the busy summer and can’t wait to see what results they bring in by meeting our current clients, vendors, and friends.
Kind regards, Gloria
