Amtrak Cancels Nonstop Acela Service Between NYC and DC

From March 10 until May 26, Amtrak is canceling all nonstop Acela routes between DC and New York due to reduced sales. Acela service will continue to run through D.C. and Boston will still run normally, however. There are currently no travel restrictions on Amtrak, however, with an outbreak of the virus in New York, Governor Cuomo announced a state of emergency with 19 cases in New York City. Amtrak is also waiving rebooking fees before April 30th to help with travel disruptions. Amtrak is taking measures to clean trains multiple times a day and disinfecting, multiple hand-sanitizing stations as well. In a statement, Amtrak said, “ The safety of Amtrak’s customers and employees is our top priority. We are closely monitoring the coronavirus and are taking action based on guidance from public health experts.”
