Amtrak’s Acela Plans June Return
Amtrak President and CEO Bill Flynn has announced that Amtrak will restore Acela service on the Northeast Corridor on a modified schedule beginning June 1st. Three weekday Acela roundtrips will be restored and Northeast Regional frequencies will be increased. New safety initiatives will continue to be in effect, including:
• Amtrak is requiring that all customers in stations, on trains and thruway buses wear facial coverings as per CDC recommendations.
• To help maintain CDC recommendations for physical distancing onboard trains Coach, Business, and Acela First Class sales are temporarily reduced to 50% capacity.
• Physical distancing: Signage has been displayed at several stations to indicate safe distances in high customer traffic areas such as waiting rooms, in front ticket offices, at the base/top of escalators, lounge entrances, etc.
