Omega World Travel Honored as Top Diversity Owned Business

Omega World Travel, based in Fairfax, VA, was recently honored as the Top Diversity Owned Business in the U.S. for the year 2002. The award was made by Div2000.com, the nation's primary resource portal for small businesses and large organizational buyers. Div.2000.com is a membership-based exchange platform that facilitates contacts and communication, streamlines business processes and provides vital business news and information.

The award was presented at the DIV2000.com Multicultural Business Forum and Awards Ceremony held recently at the Foxwoods Resort in Mashantucket, Connecticut. This annual event recognizes the “Top 50” Fortune 500 companies for promoting multicultural business opportunities.

Accepting the award was Gloria Bohan, Omega’s President, CEO and Founder. Ms. Bohan was also a keynote speaker, sharing the dais with the Lieutenant Governor and Treasurer from the State of Connecticut as well as top executives from IBM, NASA, The Boeing Company and General Motors.

“I was very proud to accept this offer on behalf of our employees, loyal customers and other diversity owners nationwide. Omega is committed to diversity and pleased to be recognized by Div2000 and to be in such prestigious company among other award recipients,” said Ms. Bohan.

From a small, one-person travel agency opening its doors in Fredericksburg, Virginia in 1972, Omega has grown to one of the country’s top ten travel management companies with over 1,000 employees and 200 offices located in the U.S., the United Kingdom, Europe, Japan and Bahrain. Providing travel management services to an array of corporations and government agencies, Omega’s sales in 2002 exceeded $1 billion. In addition to the parent company, Omega’s wholly owned affiliates include Cruise.com, TravTech, TourDeals.com, AirDeals.com and Omega Meetings & Incentives.
