Omega World Travel Announces its Participation
in the 26th Annual Pakistan Festival
FAIRFAX, VA – August 24, 2012- Omega World Travel, a fast-growing, award-winning leader in the travel management industry, announces today its participation in the 26th Annual Pakistan Festival, taking place from noon to dusk on Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Bull Run Regional Park in Centerville, VA. The festival's main event is scheduled to begin at 5pm. This year's festival also coincides with the Eid-ul-Fitr, celebrated by Muslims worldwide at the completion of Ramadan, a month of fasting, special prayers, and self-restraint.
This will be Omega World Travel's first participation in the annual festival, which is being held for the 26th consecutive year. The event is free and open to the public, and will feature a cricket tournament, as well as a variety of Pakistani foods, including kabobs, biryani, and haleem, as well as a sampling of vegetarian snacks and sweets. There will be special activities for children and young adults, as well as a number of booths offering Pakistani handcrafts, jewelry, Mehndi decorations (henna tattoos), clothing, business services and musical productions from popular Pakistani artists as well as a Korean and Japanese cultural troupe, to show their solidarity with the Pakistani-American community.
Omega World Travel will be featured in a booth at the festival, and will also donate two pairs of domestic airline tickets to the festival's silent auction, in conjunction with its participation. The company became inspired to be involved with this year's cultural festival following recommendation from an Omega World Travel employee who is a proud supporter.
"We are very excited to be participating in the 26th Annual Pakistan Festival for the first time," Omega World Travel CEO and Founder, Gloria Bohan says. "This festival is bringing together thousands of local businesses and residents to celebrate Pakistan's independence. It is a great opportunity for us to connect and give back to the local and vibrant Pakistani-American community and culture in our area, as well as show support for causes that our employees are passionate about."
The festival offers a special venue for youth and adults alike for social networking, inter-generational dialogue and outreach, both within the communities and across borders, and brings together thousands of families from the surrounding area. The Governors of the States of Virginia and Maryland will also be in attendance, and plan to proclaim August 26, as Pakistan Day in their respective states. Audiences can also expect messages from President Obama, Secretary of State Mrs. Clinton, Fairfax County's Chairman Board of Supervisors Ms. Sharon Bulova and the Pakistan Ambassador. The event will be telecast live via satellite in more than 130 countries including North America, Africa, Europe, Middle East and South Asia.
