Omega's Winter Clothing Drive to Benefit Artemis House

Gift to Junior Achievement Students

December 12, 2017 – At this year’s Client Appreciation Holiday Luncheon, Omega World Travel held a winter clothing drive, including a Mitten Tree, to benefit Artemis House. Luncheon attendees brought gloves and other winter clothing items to hang on the tree or place in the donation boxes. Those whom did not bring a contribution were given the option to make a cash donation to the shelter and hang a pair of gloves that Omega provided on the tree. In total, Omega collected 127 winter clothing items.

Artemis House, formerly referred to as the Fairfax County Women’s Shelter, provides a safe haven for women and children who are victims of family violence situations. One in four women will experience domestic violence in their lives. Domestic violence is the leading cause for homicides in Fairfax Country, and the most common reason for homelessness. The main reason victims stay with their abusers is that they do not have the resources to be financially independent. Artemis House offers professional counseling, children’s programs, court accompaniment, community education, emergency transportation, a safe and supportive community, and resources for legal help, employment, housing, medical, child care, and other needs.

Omega supports Artemis House through various donations, including a weekend getaway to raffle off at their awareness event, Unmask Domestic Violence, and other drives and donations. Gloria Bohan, Omega’s President and CEO, shared the lessons she has learned through the years at the luncheon. She stated the importance of reaching out to people (after all, we are a family at Omega World Travel), being honest, and helping people when they are in need – especially during the holiday season. Omega follows these principles in every aspect of our company, as exemplified by our continued relationship with Artemis House.
