Gloria Bohan Receives Business Travel Hall of Fame Award

Business Travel Hall of Fame

December 2018 (New York, NY) - The 8th Annual Business Travel News Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place on December 3rd in New York City. Each year, Business Travel (BTN)* recognizes an esteemed, select group of influential executives in the travel industry. Gloria Bohan, Founder, President, and CEO of Omega World Travel was inducted by Betsy Amos, Vice President and Executive Director at Omega. The other inductees included Mick Lee of WiNit, Tom Pritzker of Hyatt Hotels Corporation, and Fred Swaffer of Hewlett-Packard, who passed in 2015. Gloria is an active participant in many BTN events and is honored to win this prestigious award. To celebrate her momentous achievement, she was joined by many Omega employees, representatives from Omega’s Family of Brands (which include: Omega, Cruise.com, TravTech, and Omega M.I.C.E) and industry friends. Bohan and the other honorees join 37 other business Travel Hall of Fame members.

Gloria founded Omega World Travel in 1972 and has since transformed Omega into a global travel management company with annual sales revenues over $1 billion. Omega is the largest woman-owned and operated travel management company in the United States. Gloria has built an organizational reputation for expertise, quality service, and innovative technology in corporate, government, meetings, cruise and leisure markets. Gloria’s longevity in the industry has seen many changes and noted it in her speech, “with the ever-changing technology in the travel industry, it is most important to secure the safety of our customers, while giving them a little more T.L.C. Gloria states “I am so honored to be a part of the BTN Hall of Fame. My Omega team have inspired me throughout our 46-year history. Thank you for the honor.”

This year has been especially noteworthy in Gloria’s career. For example, earlier this year Gloria received The American Society of Travel Advisors (ASTA)’s lifetime achievement award. Gloria has been a member of ASTA since 1975. Her dedication to the industry has helped her achieve top accolades, including recognition in the Washington Business Hall of Fame, American Society of Travel Advisors Travel Agent of the Year Award, one of the 25 Most Influential Leaders in the Travel Industry by Tour and Travel News, one of the Most Powerful Women in Washington by Washingtonian Magazine, Office Depot’s Business Woman of the Year, Entrepreneurial Visionary Award by the Women's Business Center, Enterprising Women Hall of Fame, and the Lifetime Achievement Award and Doctor of Laws from Marymount Manhattan College.
